Why We Do This
Lacrosse is still growing in San Antonio, and the biggest thing standing between a kid and this sport is usually a stick they don’t own and a game nobody explained to them. So once a year we take that off the table entirely. We bring the gear, we teach the basics, we run drills and mini games, and every kid gets to actually play. No registration fee, no equipment list, no pressure to join anything afterward.
What the Morning Looks Like
- Warm-up and basic stick work — cradling, passing, catching, ground balls
- Small-group drills split by age and experience
- Mini scrimmages so everyone plays a real game
- Coaches available the whole time to answer parent questions
What to Bring
- Cleats and a mouthguard — required
- Water bottle
- Loaner pads available for new players, first come first served
- That’s it. If you have your own stick bring it; if you don’t, we have one for her or him.
Who’s Coaching
Run by Coach Paul Taylor and the Great American Lacrosse staff. Paul is a High School All-American, played NCAA Division III at Goucher College as a 3x Conference Champion and 2x All-Conference defenseman, is a USA Lacrosse Certified Platinum Level Coach for boys and girls, and is the Varsity Head Coach at Central Catholic High School.
Online sign-up opens in January. Reserving ahead just helps us bring enough loaner gear.
Sign Up for the Charity Lacrosse Event
This event is completely free. Signing up ahead just helps us bring enough loaner sticks and pads for everyone.
