Private & Small-Group Training

Alamo City Lacrosse

San Antonio’s only locally run private lacrosse training organization.

Who we are

What Is Alamo City Lacrosse?

We are the only locally run private and small-group lacrosse training organization in San Antonio — a small business, not a franchise, training athletes year-round.

Our trainers are USA Lacrosse certified and eager to give back to the community that built us into All-Americans and NCAA collegiate athletes.

Why train with us

Team Practice vs. Individual Training

Team practice was never built for individual development. It is designed to make the team better — and while that matters, it is not enough to develop a player.

Most skill development happens outside of practice, when a player trains with clear goals and a roadmap to reach them. If your athlete is relying on team practice alone to build their individual skill, they are falling behind — and you probably cannot see it yet.

That is why the balance between individual training and team practice matters so much. If your athlete is struggling to make plays in games, they do not need more team practice — they need individual training.

Just as students thrive in smaller classrooms, athletes develop best with individual instruction. The best learning environment is a low coach-to-player ratio, and at 1-on-1 your athlete gets the coach’s full attention. We have spent 15+ years working with athletes of every background, and we are confident these methods produce results. If you want to be the best, train with the best.

Coach Paul Taylor, founder of Alamo City Lacrosse and Great American Lacrosse

Born and raised in San Antonio, Paul played at Saint Mary’s Hall under legendary coach Earl Bill before earning All-American honors in 2008 — one of just eight players selected statewide.

He went on to play collegiately at the NCAA Division III level, where he was a Conference Champion and All-Conference defenseman, ranked the #8 defender in the country by LaxPower.

With 15+ years of coaching across San Antonio, Denver, and back home again, Paul has built programs from the ground up — including a Colorado state Coach of the Year season and a Final Four appearance. He is now the Varsity Head Coach at Central Catholic High School, in addition to running Great American Lacrosse.

Paul is a USA Lacrosse Certified Platinum Level Coach — the highest standard, for both boys and girls — and a Parisi Speed Certified Coach. His philosophy starts with discipline, hard work and character: building better athletes and better young people.

Who Personal Training Is For

Private training is not only for elite players. Wherever your athlete is right now, there is a version of this that moves them forward.

Starting out

Brand New Players

Repetition builds habits — good or bad. A player who practices with incorrect fundamentals is reinforcing mistakes every single rep.

We build a strong fundamental foundation first, which is what makes long-term progress possible.

Building

Good Players Who Want More

Is your athlete not quite reaching their potential? Think of it exactly like hiring a tutor for a school subject.

One-on-one time with Coach Paul targets the specific gaps holding them back, instead of hoping practice covers it.

Pushing the ceiling

Great Players Aiming Higher

Is practice sometimes boring because your son or daughter is not being challenged?

Train with one of the best players ever to come out of San Antonio and get pushed to the limit every session.

Timing

When Is the Best Time to Train?

Option 01

Before the Season Starts

Your athlete walks in sharp from day one while the competition is still rusty from not picking up a stick since last season.

Option 02

Before a Big Game or Tournament

Timing: 1–2 weeks out, typically 3–4 sessions per week.

Goal: fine-tune skills so your athlete peaks for the tournament, game or showcase.

Option 03

All Year Long

Want to be better than the rest? Train year-round and be the best in the city.

Aiming for the NCAA level? We know exactly what that takes.
